Many activities were organized to campaign for environmental awareness
on the World Environment Day June 5th. In Phuket City, our news team witnessed a creative event presented by young people. And we captured that for you. (Sound on tape missing for 1st paragraph) These are some examples of creative ideas by local tourism businesses in Phuket which attempt to promote recycling habits among their staff. At this one in particular, hotel staff are using many types of recycled materials such as soft drink bottles, to clean, then make pattern designs, later paint and finally change to lamp shades. Another good example is this: a fashion show in which the outfits are made from recycled materials.
These students are from Kanjanawat Wittaya School. They turn waste like plastic bags, milk cartons & water bottles into evening dresses and fashionable hats. The school has been working closely with the environment networks, parents and teachers and of course students. They unite to join hands in conserving the environment. An art teacher at the school explained; (Voice) We have a lot of used material at school. They comprise candy bags and others. We try to reuse them to reduce waste and of course this goes towards reducing global warming.
