News Kalim surf contest 2009 opened

The Kalim Monsoon Riders surfing contest was held in Phuket with 215 international surfers taking part.

The first international surfing contest under the inaugural Quiksilver Thailand Surf Series 2009 was held during the weekend at Kalim bay, just north of the tourist beach of Patong. The three day event, named the Monsoon Riders, was well participated in by Thai and international surfers such as those from Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Australia, France and Indonesia. The contest started on Friday June 12 with an opening ceremony before getting right into the competitive surfing for three days of surfing in four divisions; Shortboard, Longboard, Womens and Juniors. The event wrapped up with an awards party on Sunday night.
